This post is a memoir of my reflections from graduation. Do you keep a journal? I find it amazingly enlightening to keep one, and to occasionally reflect on it. That's what I did today. Congratulations Class of 2013!
Ah! I woke up this morning feeling like you do after waking up on a backpacking trip after a beautiful night when you decided to sleep under the trees without your tent. I was sure I could feel the birds chirping, touch the blue skies just beyond the green canopy. I guess all the late nights and stressful moments working on papers and my thesis payed off - I am an alum now! Graduation was a beautiful day... my parents and grandparents came up to celebrate the festivities which was fabulous. Walking with friends down streets lined with alumni representing the class years all the way back to 1935, many of whom were yelling "MOOOOOOSE" as a likely result of the moose antlers on my cap, topped off the grand nature of the day.
Now, the class of 2011 is off to new lives down the line, our experiences at Brown ever-shading and -enlivening our perceptions of the world.
As Garrett and I start to head home to VA, guess what is playing:

Goodbye to the years here
They have flown
Goodbye to the only
college we have known
The wheels of the world
are rolling along
And as the gates are closing
I guess it's time we're gone.*
Free and easy down our paths we'll go.
